The UCSC Copy Center
Originally started as the “digital arm” of UCSC Printing Services (1965-2011, RIP) in the Communications Building, the UCSC Copy Center has produced course readers and other copies/etc. for campus customers since 1993. Its digital production methods offered a less-expensive, faster-turnaround set of products than those made with ink-on-paper offered by Printing Services. In 2001 the Copy Center moved to the new Baytree Bookstore building, re-branded as “XpressIT”, and provided its products from where the SlugStop is now located. When Printing Services shuttered and Mail Services moved from Baskin Engineering to H Barn, XpressIT de-branded and returned to Science Hill as UCSC Copy Center, moving into the vacated space in room B25, just inside the loading dock. - Ricoh MPC6503: color, 65 page per minute production printer/copier
- Xante X-33: large format, flatbed, solvent inkjet printer (24″ x 36″ maximum size)
- Xante EnPress: envelope printer with variable data capability
- DigiKut LM PRO 19 TS ProX: 19.5″ wide paper cutter
- Pitney Bowes Relay 3500: folder with inserter to automatically stuff envelopes
- Various binding and finishing equipment
